JR - women (rio providencia)

This is such an important piece of work for me. I was commissioned, along with another director Dan Lowe, to make a series of short documentary films following the work of the French street artist JR. This was the final piece we made and arguably the most important. The people we met became such an integral part of how this was made. They welcomed us into their homes and lives for a month, became our camera assistants and taught us how to play football with flare... I will never forget them.

This film encompasses alot of the camera language i had been developing in the early 2000's and over the time spent shooting JR's work. The main technique, now called hyperlapse, was utilized in each of the short documentary films and was born out of a series of early experiments which tried to make time-lapse more engaging and less boring for me to shoot....
